Stone Arch Bridge: HAUNTED.

The Sullivan Paranormal Society investigated the Stone Arch Bridge on the anniversary night of the infamous hex murder that occurred there. It was investigation unlike any we've ever had before.

History: In 1892 George Markert was murdered upon this bridge by Adam & Joseph Heidt for Adam believed the George was a warlock who had placed a hex upon him. This hex could be activated any time George did something 3 times, so it seems a little too ironic that this was done over this beautiful three arched bridge in Kenoza Lake, NY. This was a vicious and gruesome murder for George was beaten by the Heidts, shot numerous times, and then finally thrown into the frozen waters below. Truly an unnecessary way to die. It is in this fact that it is said that George Markert's ghost still haunts this location even to this day, 123 years later. SPS feels we can confirm that the Stone Arch Bridge is haunted.

SPS's investigation at the Stone Arch Bridge definitely wasn't one for the faint of heart. Many of our members had visited this park in the summertime, but there was definitely an entirely different feeling on this cold January Night as we pulled up the winding driveway to the parking area. From the minute our team pulled up to the location numerous sensitive members were having intense feelings of what they could only explain as a bittersweet sorrow, or anxiety. Something was going down tonight and it was our mission to find out what. As our team made our way down the ice and snow covered path to the bridge these feelings seemed to only intensify.

The feelings were so intense that our incredibly sensitive members were able to create a distinct line upon the bridge where they felt it the strongest. This line was confirmed by two of our sensitive members at separate times, without either of them having the opportunity to communicate with one another. This invisible line is also where our team got most of our activity.

As we were exploring two of our members saw an apparition of a person. Both of them assumed it was just their eyes playing tricks on them, the one even called Base Camp on the Walkie to make sure the member watching it wasn't wandering around up on the hill. Turns out, both these members saw the same exact apparition like shadow: a tan/beige featureless silhouette. They could both only describe the color as that of freshly tanned leather. These members were able to complete each other's sentences about the apparition and saw it at two separate times in the same general area. One seeing it coming down the hill, the other ducking behind a tree just minutes earlier.

Our team also had a lot of technical issues at the bridge. Whenever someone walked over that invisible line on the bridge our walkies would call to base camp without us touching them. Base camp got numerous prank calls by George during our investigation, including a few when we asked if he could give us a sign that he was there.

Our team also got various EMF spikes upon the bridge. Our meter was at 0.0 everywhere when doing our base readings at the bridge but every once in a while throughout our investigation it would spike to 0.9 and we even got one intense spike to 15.0 which caused us to check the batteries when we arrived back to base. The batteries were completely fine. Our team also witnessed various temperature changes which were not common for the area, the temperature would drop 5-10 degrees in a matter of seconds and immediately go back to a steady 34º F.

SPS members decided to use our Spirit Box where our sensitive members felt the invisible line upon the bridge, they stood there recording our questions and the box's responses-if any. A Spirit Box is a device that uses radio frequency to contact spirits. It is believed that this device can use the white noise created to channel a spirit's energy into words. In essence it's like a radio to the other side. As we were doing our Spirit Box session we got various words coming through the box. The most clear EVP we caught from our spirit box session is currently on our soundcloud. In the recording a member asks; "Do you know who killed you?" there is a pause and another member sympathizes with George by saying "We're sorry that bad things happened to you", immediately after saying this the spirit box says clear as day: "Adam". Adam Heidt was the person convicted for the murder of George Heidt in 1892. We sent this EVP to our expert in the UK for her take on it, to make sure we weren't just overly hopeful and she said it's definitely a "Class A EVP". Could this be George testifying from beyond the grave?

Our team is still reviewing further evidence, we have hours of EVPs left to go through and listen to carefully. We will keep you updated as we continue to review our evidence collected. Until then, Happy haunting!
